An adverb modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. Here are some examples of adverbs:
  • quickly, softly, rarely
Examples of adverbs in sentences:
  • He spoke softly.
  • (The adverb "softly" modifies the verb "spoke.")
  • She ran quickly to the station.
  • (The adverb "quickly" modifies the verb "ran.")
  • We rarely eat out.
  • (The adverb "rarely" modifies the verb "eat.")
Adverbs also modify adjectives and other adverbs.
