Do Grammar Checkers Work?

Not really. Although your PC's thesaurus and spell checker can provide you with a wide vocabulary and help enormously with spelling, its grammar checker does not provide the same level of service – not even close.  In fact, it can be more of a hindrance than a help.

Proof That Grammar Checkers Do Not Work

Why Does Grammar Monster Recommend the WhiteSmoke Grammar Checker?

In recognition of the issues faced by grammar checkers, the programmers and grammarians at WhiteSmoke have designed their application to offer grammatical explanations of the options it presents. This allows users to understand why the software is questioning their grammar.  This process encourages learning, and users quickly become less reliant on their grammar checkers.  Additionally, we have found the WhiteSmoke grammar checker to be the most effective for spotting typographical errors and omitted words.
